Registrations Open for Voices for Justice 2011Please allow me to put on one of my other hats for a few moments and encourage you to go and check out the Micah Challenge web site and discover and download some terrific resources that are designed to help deepen people’s engagement with the poor and suggest responsible active steps that we can all take toward reducing global poverty. Heartland signed the Micah Call and became a supporter of the Micah Challenge back in 2004. Micah Challenge takes its name and charter from the bible book of Micah chapter 6 and verse 8 which simply says:- "What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God"
MC’’s first challenge is to encourage people to make a life time commitment to advocacy, speaking out whenever is possible about the injustice of poverty. It’s second key function is to be a prophetic voice, calling upon and influencing leaders around the world to defend the rights of the poor and oppressed. MC tries to rally its supporters especially, to urge decision makers to fulfill their promise to achieve the Millennium Development Goals re global poverty by 2015. One key way that MC helps facilitate this is by offering an equipping process to everyday Australians in the form of a unique forum & national gathering known as ‘Voices for Justice’ which will happen this year in Canberra from September 17 to 20 and registrations are OPEN TODAY!!!

We're Back Again - This Time To Stay!Dear Friends of Heartland, We just wanted to thank you all for your patience, patience and more patience. It has been 12 months since our new web presence went LIVE and not much has happened on the site. This doesn't in anyway mean that nothing is happening, it just means that although we were very keen this time last year to engage with you on a regular basis and as we indicated to serve and support anyone who would identify with the vision and mission of Heartland, we didn't see the opportunity that God was opening up for us nor the amount of time it was going to take to get our ducks in a row.

Sleeping Tiger, Angry KittenNo, the title of this article is not a reference to the sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but a reference to the tactic of keeping 'angry kitten' Afghanistan occupied, while maintaining an ever watchful eye on its bigger neighbor, 'sleeping tiger' Pakistan (as referred to by Peter W. Singer, author of 'Wired for War', in a recent ABC interview).

For God's Sake Listen to Jesus!Hi there friends and welcome to the new Heartland web site. In some ways this has been a long time coming but in so many other ways, the lessons that have been learned over these past few years have been invaluable and I have absolutely no doubt they've been very much a part of God's design and purpose for us. It's fantastic to be able to share with you in this way and I look forward to having a bit of a go and finding out where Jesus ends up taking us as we engage this journey together.
