The Project :
'Where is the Love?' was a labour of love which took a long time to be birthed. It took my best friend and mission partner, Gordon Barr, over 8 years to convince me that I should record the simple tunes that God had started to plant in me. Up until the time of this recording I had mostly arranged, produced and added to other people's stuff and never thought for a moment that what God had invested in me was important at all.
I repented of that attitude and 'Where is the Love?' is the result. It's my gift to God and to those who believed; my dear friends and co-workers. It is an offering of the first fruit so that much more could be released.
Even though it has been over two decades since its debut, in more recent days I have discovered that people have re-connected to it, like an old friend; familiar and true. Alongside of this re-engagement, a new generation of apprentice community leaders have visited it for the first time; mostly due to curiosity I suspect.
For whatever the reason, I am thankful for the wonder of this set of songs and as such, re-released them on tape pre-dawn 2000 and all but one of the songs was re-mastered and released on the HOME 2007 anthology double album. Not for the music or style, but to display their purpose and the initial heart for this journey.
My prayer is that these early songs will continue to energise you, encourage you and increase your passion for knowing God more and knowing His heart for a lost generation.
